Coronavirus Outbreak in the UK

The UK was put in to lockdown by the government on 23/3/20. The government has published a lockdown exit plan which outlines that the hospitality industry may reopen from 4 July and holidays within England (for people living in England) may be possible from this date.  However, this date will depend on the coronavirus outbreak being under control.

  • Wales, Scotland and Ireland have different exit plans to England.

  • Ireland’s exit plan suggests that holidays within the country may be permitted from 20 July.

  • Wales’s exit plan suggests that cottages may be able to reopen in the Amber phase (it is not yet known when the amber phase will be).

  • Scotland’s exit strategy contains no provisional dates so it’s not yet known when UK residents may be able to take a cottage holiday in Scotland currently.

Because of the coronavirus outbreak, it’s highly recommended that you speak to cottage owners and agencies before booking to discuss booking conditions and it’s also strongly recommended that you take out appropriate holiday insurance.
