The cottage owner responded with details of booking and obtained the following response:

Am happy you available ..I have conclude with my partner regarding the payments for our booking we both conclude making the payment through Travelers Cheques ..
So therefore i will need your complete Payment details to Issue the Cheques I.E (Name on Cheques)and Complete address to post the payment to(State/Country/Zip code).

All that you need to do is to insist that you only accept money transfers into your bank account and you will never hear from these people again. They do not want to give you any money, only take yours.
